Vacations - Natural History Tours
These Alaska vacations include a guided bus tour of the Copper
River Delta, which will give you a chance to see the wonders
of this 700,000 acre wetland. Wildlife viewing and photo opportunities
are highlights of the trip.
A great way to see this natural wonderland is on a scenic flight-seeing
trip over the mountains, glaciers and tidelands. For an additional
$100/person, we can connect you to some of the best pilots in
the region to take you on this awesome trip. You'll spend an
hour flying over the wonders of the area before heading out
overland.
All Alaska vacations natural history tours start at our office
located just past the airport at milepost 12.5 of the Copper
River Highway. Take the first left after the airport (where
the pavement ends) and follow the signs to our log cabin. We
travel along the Copper River Highway to the Million Dollar
Bridge and Childs and Miles Glaciers. A picnic lunch is served
at a National Forest picnic site, near a salmon stream. Our
natural history Alaska vacations will eventually take you to
the face of the Child's Glacier where you can watch house-sized
chunks of ice "calve" from the 300' wall of ice before
you into the Copper River. After glacier viewing you will return
to downtown Cordova along the Copper River Highway.
During these Alaska vacations, your guide will make several
stops along the way for short hikes to scenic vistas and points
of interest. Cultural and natural history are the focus of these
Alaska vacations. Each trip is customized by the interest of
the group. Some Alaska vacations may focus more on the cultural
aspects of the area while others will focus more on the geology
of the region. Or if photography is your interest, we have photography
guides that will accompany the group.
Cost : $60 for a full day with lunch
Cost with optional flight-seeing: $185 for full day with
lunch
Duration: 6-8 hours (depending on what we see and your
interest in the area)
Available Dates 2008: June 25 - August 31
